چکیده
Abstract Automated tape layup (ATL) has been used extensively for manufacturing composites laminates using unidirectional prepregs high‐performance industries like aerospace. Residual stress is one of the defects that adversely affect quality. These stresses geometrical tolerances in form distortion final product and are found to have a detrimental impact on mechanical properties. In‐line monitoring such will help productivity increase achieving reliable process control. The aim present work demonstrate feasibility fiber Bragg grating sensors residual strains. FBGs embedded inside thermoplastic UD laminate. Temperature strain discrimination performed recognize intermittent strains during layup. Finally, develop an understanding global strain. Effect selective parameter formation evolution same also analyzed.

Strain Measurement of Composite Laminates Using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors
Fiber Bragg grating(FBG) sensors, one of the fiber optic sensors(FOS), based on the wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) technology are ideally suitable for structural health monitoring of composite materials and structures. Proper monitoring of measurands in FBG sensor systems requires accurate measurement of the Bragg center wavelength, and the ability to track rapid shifts of the wavelength...
متن کاملPost-Impact Fatigue Damage Monitoring Using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors
It has been shown that impact damage to composite materials can be revealed by embedded Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) as a broadening and splitting of the latter's characteristic narrow peak reflected spectrum. The current work further subjected the impact damaged composite to cyclic loading and found that the FBG spectrum gradually submerged into a rise of background intensity as internal damages...

In this paper, we present an improved FBG sensor system using a wavelength swept fiber laser(WSFL) for internal strain monitoring of composite laminates. The WSFL provides unique and functional output characteristics useful for sensor interrogation. In addition a realtime signal processing program was made to measure strains. Five FBG sensors in an optical fiber were used to measure internal st...

In this paper, we present strain monitoring of a filament wound composite tank using fiber Bragg grating sensors during hydrostatic pressurization. 20 fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors and 20 strain gauges were attached on the domes and cylinder of the composite tank. A wavelength-swept fiber laser (WSFL) was used as a light source to supply high signal power. From the experimental results, it ...
